About The Position

This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County. This is an in-office and field work position. This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan. We request that all applications be completed with People First - no faxed or mailed applications to the agency. Requirements

  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  • This position requires daily in-office or field work. Willing to physically come in the office daily and perform field work.
  • This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
  • Valid driver's license, free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes.
  • Basic knowledge of IP telephony, network systems, Active Directory, and Windows workstation support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and configure computer hardware, peripherals, and network connectivity.
  • Ability to install and configure software on Windows, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Ability to answer, triage, document, and dispatch helpdesk support requests using an ITSM system.
  • Ability to assist with equipment installation, hardware/software setup, and basic structured cabling tasks (routing, labeling, and terminating network cables).
  • Knowledge of general operating principles, capabilities, and limitations of information technology system equipment.
  • Microsoft Operating Systems, Office Suite, Windows all versions, Server 2008, 2012, 2016.
  • Computer networking, architecture. Information security as they relate to IT.
  • Troubleshooting root cause.
  • Analyze information and situations.
  • Reason logically and creatively and identify problems in order to draw valid conclusions and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to perform job tasks during stressful working conditions (e.g., deadlines, multiple assignments).
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and/or assignments concurrently.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in priorities, work assignments, and other interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Windows, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  • Knowledge of IP networking principles, basic network troubleshooting and cloud computing concepts and services.
  • Experience imaging and deploying Windows computers using SCCM or similar tools.
  • Experience using the Footprints ITSM system for ticketing and documentation.
  • Experience performing structured cabling tasks, including cable runs, terminations, patch panel work and cable management.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to all internal users of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County.
  • Responds to and manages support requests received through the IT Help Desk call center.
  • Performs software installations.
  • Answers and triages help desk calls.
  • Documents issues.
  • Responds to support requests.
  • Supports and troubleshoots a variety of network components, including workstations, printers, scanners, servers, and switches.
  • Assists with installing new equipment, software, and related upgrades.
  • Performs basic structured cabling tasks, and ensuring proper cable labeling, routing, and termination.
  • Accurately records all service activities in the ITSM Help Desk system.
  • Completes required continuing education and maintains compliance with agency, section, and DOH training requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
