Dispensary Technician
About The Position
Derick Dermatology is an internationally recognized medical practice providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care. The Dispensary Technician works closely with the Pharmacy Manager and patients to support quality care through accurate medication dispensing. The role includes prescription processing, pharmacy software and systems use, insurance claim adjudication, point-of-sale transactions, inventory management, prior authorization work, and patient service. The technician may need to travel to other locations in the zone. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts per week, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM, plus one Saturday per month, 6:45 AM–12:30 PM.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Illinois Pharmacy Technician License required within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification required within 150 days of hire if not already obtained.
- Ability to travel to other locations in the zone as needed.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and execute new and refill prescription orders and appropriate substitutions according to the formulary.
- Operate WinPharm pharmacy software and systems to label and provide medication to patients.
- Adjudicate insurance claims.
- Conduct point-of-sale operations.
- Maintain awareness of and manage inventory.
- Manage and resolve prior authorizations.
- Handle customer service cases successfully.
- Answer patients’ questions about medications, the practice, and related topics.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
