Dispensary Technician
About The Position
Derick Dermatology is an internationally recognized medical practice providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care. The Dispensary Technician works closely with the Pharmacy Manager and patients to support quality care through accurate medication dispensing and a variety of pharmacy tasks. The role may require travel to other locations in the zone as needed. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, and one Saturday per month, from 6:45 AM to 12:30 PM. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Illinois Pharmacy Technician License required within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification required within 150 days of hire if not already obtained.
- Ability to travel to other locations in the zone as needed.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and execute new and refill prescription orders and appropriate substitutions according to formulary.
- Use WinPharm pharmacy software and systems to label and provide medications to patients.
- Adjudicate insurance claims.
- Operate point-of-sale transactions.
- Monitor and manage inventory.
- Manage and resolve prior authorizations.
- Handle customer service cases successfully.
- Answer patients’ questions about medications, the practice, and related matters.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
