About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing store orders, accurately selecting ordered items via a voice automated selection system, and packaging them for shipment. The Dispatcher plays a key role in the Transportation Department, ensuring efficient routing and scheduling of loads and drivers.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to make appointments and process mail.
  • Ability to compose original correspondence and write form letters.
  • Ability to interpret written work instructions.
  • Ability to follow technical manuals.
  • Ability to interview to obtain basic and job performance information.
  • Ability to counsel or advise people.
  • Increased contact with people.
  • Must be physically able to perform light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more with or without correction and color vision.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, balancing, grasping, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Has daily contact with store/warehouse/office personnel, company drivers, and other distribution center personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Transportation or dispatch experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Routes loads, assigns drivers, assigns equipment, and posts daily dispatch sheet.
  • Makes appointments for back hauls and organizes order paperwork by pickup dates.
  • Audits and records previous days log sheets, fuel tickets, and inspection sheets.
  • Consults with warehouse department managers with load set up.
  • Answers telephone, coordinates add on orders, makes appointments, and directs callers.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
  • Attends and participates in company meetings as needed.
