The Dispatcher is responsible for carrying out daily tasks related to the fleet of drivers assigned to them. This includes monitoring the fleet, distributing, receiving, and accurately updating information. You will be the main point of contact for drivers and will be expected to provide guidance and solutions to their issues in order to maximize fleet productivity.

Requirements

  • Intermediate bilingualism (French/English) required (customers, customs)
  • Postsecondary education preferred, although a high school diploma is sufficient
  • Customer service experience in a similar work environment is an asset
  • Experience with bulk and/or hazardous products is considered an asset
  • Strong problem-solving, stress management, and emotional management skills
  • Well organized, excellent communicator, with strong attention to punctuality and detail
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan with the customer service and planning departments to dispatch drivers and company equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound flow while staying informed of daily priorities and weekly transportation objectives
  • Ensure drivers’ daily trips are confirmed and completed by the end of the day
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Review, prepare, and communicate specific requirements and procedures to drivers
  • Handle driver and customer requests professionally and in a timely manner
  • Actively build positive working relationships with all drivers
  • Update customer web portals when applicable
  • Follow up and update shipment statuses in the company’s internal applications
  • Analyze resource utilization and generate reports as needed
  • Perform any other related tasks
