About The Position

The Dispatcher role involves managing and coordinating driver activities to ensure efficient and timely deliveries. This includes communicating with customers, checking delivery details, preparing shipping documents, and performing order double checks. The position also requires adherence to company safety policies, assisting with inbound freight, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating with various departments to resolve shipment issues. The Dispatcher will provide drivers with complete instructions, evaluate their performance, monitor DOT hours, and conduct weekly truck inspections. Maintaining the ELD system, managing facility reporting systems, and fostering open communication within the department and across the company are also key aspects of this role. Related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • GED/HS Diploma
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Better than average written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to making critically analyze, problem solve and offer solutions.
  • Available to be on-call after hours, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Inform customers of unit prices, shipping details, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by the customer after the placement of the original order.
  • Check delivery tickets for changes or mistakes.
  • Submit completed BOLs to the appropriate CSR; create millrun BOLs
  • Perform order double checks.
  • Perform all duties in strict accordance of company safety and environmental policies.
  • Serve as backup in unloading inbound freight when a Driver is unavailable.
  • Check inventory control and notify Facility Manager of orders that would deplete stock.
  • Confer with sales, shipping, warehouse, or common carrier personnel to expedite or trace missing or delayed shipments.
  • Coordinate deliveries to maximize truck capacity and efficiency.
  • Dispatch drivers providing complete instructions.
  • Evaluate Drivers’ performance.
  • Monitors Drivers’ DOT hours.
  • Perform truck inspections with drivers on a weekly basis.
  • Maintains ELD system, corrects errors and retrieves daily reports.
  • Assist Facility Manager in the day to day matters of the facility.
  • Manage the facility Intelex reporting system.
  • Demonstrate and facilitate open and honest communication with the department and with employees at all levels of the company.
  • Communicate regularly within the department on appropriate matters.
  • Communicate with peer managers across the company.
