Dean is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Dispatcher I to join our overnight operations team at our facility in Ruther Glen, Virginia. This is a fully on-site position supporting operations that function 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Dispatcher I serves as a primary point of contact for customers, technicians, project personnel, and internal teams requesting service, maintenance, emergency response, or operational support. This position receives and documents service requests, creates and updates work orders, coordinates field resources, and communicates status updates to the appropriate stakeholders. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently overnight, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED with 1+ years of experience
  • Previous customer service, call center, dispatch, administrative support, or operations experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, document, and relay detailed information accurately.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed when handling urgent or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and changing priorities simultaneously.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, databases, and web-based systems.
  • Ability to work independently during overnight hours while collaborating effectively with technicians, supervisors, and team members.
  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation to the Ruther Glen, Virginia facility.
  • Ability to work the required overnight, weekend, and holiday schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a service dispatch, facilities, construction, maintenance, security, or emergency-response environment.
  • Experience creating and maintaining work orders or service tickets.
  • Experience working overnight in a 24-hour operations center or supporting multiple customers and projects.
  • Familiarity with dispatch, call-management, timekeeping, or customer relationship management systems.
  • Experience working within documented procedures or a Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service, maintenance, and emergency requests by telephone, email, databases, and other communication channels.
  • Create accurate work orders or service tickets and ensure all required information is documented.
  • Prioritize requests according to established procedures, customer requirements, and operational urgency.
  • Dispatch technicians to work locations.
  • Monitor technician availability, coverage areas, assignments, arrival times, and completion status.
  • Communicate assignments, changes, and status updates to customers, technicians, managers, and project personnel.
  • Monitor alarm and emergency notifications and coordinate the appropriate response.
  • Maintain accurate customer, project, technician, and operational information within designated systems.
  • Update work orders, service requests, communication logs, and dispatch records throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Enter employee arrival, departure, attendance, and work activity information when required for timekeeping and reporting.
  • Assist with overnight operational activities, including employee travel coordination and administrative support.
  • Identify incomplete information, data discrepancies, and operational concerns and promptly notify the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow established dispatch procedures, work instructions, customer requirements, and Quality Management System standards.
  • Support continuity of operations during emergencies, outages, staffing shortages, and periods of increased call volume.
  • Participate in required training and maintain working knowledge of dispatch systems, customer procedures, and communication requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
