About The Position

The Dishwasher (Steward) helps maintain a clean, safe, and orderly back-of-house environment at the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort and Spa. The role supports culinary teams by maintaining kitchen, dish, storage, and equipment areas so they can deliver guest experiences to the resort’s standards. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing kitchens and work surfaces; caring for culinary equipment; maintaining storage, loading dock, waste, recycling, and compost areas; supporting dishroom operations; and delivering clean wares to outlets and banquet areas. The position also supports resort-wide cleanliness and events, uses cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, follows food-handling and HACCP requirements, and communicates equipment concerns and work-related information to leadership. This is a full-time position in Rancho Mirage, California, with a stated hourly pay range of $17.00–$17.90. The role requires schedule flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may involve schedule changes based on business needs. Physical duties include extended standing and walking, lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching, operating cleaning equipment, and working around varied temperatures, wet surfaces, and cleaning chemicals.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in stewarding, kitchen utility, or housekeeping in a hospitality or fast-paced environment.
Basic understanding of safe cleaning practices, chemical use, and equipment operation; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize kitchen floors, walls, drains, and work surfaces.
Deep-clean and care for culinary equipment, including ovens, fryers, grills, steamers, and kettles.
Maintain coolers, freezers, dry storage, and preparation areas in an organized and clean condition.
Keep loading docks, waste areas, recycling centers, and compost spaces orderly.
Perform scheduled pressure washing.
Support the flow of clean wares in collaboration with stewards and culinary teams.
Clean and monitor dish machines and support their proper operation.
Deliver clean wares to outlets and banquet areas.
Use cleaning products and personal protective equipment responsibly and follow safety and MSDS guidelines.
Operate floor scrubbers, buffers, pressure washers, wet vacuums, and other cleaning equipment safely.
Communicate equipment concerns promptly to leadership.
Partner with Banquets, Restaurants, and Pool Kitchens to maintain clean, organized back-of-house spaces.
Support recycling, composting, and waste processes, including breaking down cardboard and maintaining the compactor.
Maintain cleanliness before, during, and after events and service.
Follow Westin and Dolphin hotel management standards for cleanliness, safety, food handling, and HACCP protocols.
Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Westin grooming standards.
Complete daily responsibilities accurately and communicate clearly with leadership.
Attend work regularly and maintain schedule flexibility to support resort operations.
