Dishroom Clerk
About The Position
The Dishroom Clerk works in the Market Grille and helps maintain a clean, safe, and well-run kitchen. The role involves cleaning equipment, dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; keeping the work area neat; handling food safely; and supporting the team in delivering food and customer service. The position also includes greeting and assisting customers, answering telephone calls, removing trash, helping in other store areas as needed, and following store policies and hygiene and dress standards. The role is performed in a kitchen environment, with the employee on their feet throughout the shift.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Able to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
- Able to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
- Able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift; perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with cleaning and sanitation duties.
Nice To Haves
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers positively.
- Wash department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans thoroughly and consistently.
- Handle food safely and keep the work area clean and neat.
- Remove trash promptly and take department garbage to the compactor or designated area.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to callers.
- Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in other store areas as needed and complete special projects as assigned.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
