About The Position

The Dish Steward is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. This role involves operating dishwashing equipment, washing dishes, glasses, pots, and pans, and ensuring the kitchen is kept neat and clean at all times. The position also includes tasks such as emptying trash, following safety protocols, and assisting with plating for banquet events when needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, self-initiative, and enjoy working as part of a team to provide excellent guest experiences. Flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.

  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (6-8 hours a day).
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset.

Responsibilities

  • Use established guidelines to correctly utilize and maintain the dish machine.
  • Wash glasses and dishes in a standard dish rack.
  • Wash pots and pans in the designated pot washer's area.
  • Perform all required cleaning to keep the kitchen neat and clean at all times, including sweeping up broken glass/dishes and mopping up spills.
  • Empty full and heavy trash cans, ensuring they are sprayed and sanitized after each use, and placing new trash bags in the container after each cleaning.
  • Follow all MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties in other areas of the Kitchen as assigned, including assisting with plating banquet events when needed.
