About The Position

Montgomery County is seeking an experienced Disease Control Program/Immunization Program Manager (Manager III) to oversee the Disease Control Program, which is responsible for the investigation and related activities for reportable diseases as mandated by the Code of Maryland Regulation (COMAR). The ideal candidate will have experience in communicable disease control and prevention, supervision of an interdisciplinary team, and thrive in a dynamic environment with strong communication and collaboration skills. Requirements

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience overseeing a disease control and prevention program, including supervision of staff and management of contracts and grants.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Possession of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a community or public health setting.
  • Experience working with electronic health records, other electronic databases, fee collection administration, and data collection and analysis.
  • Familiarity and experience working with State and Federal infection control and prevention regulations and guidelines as they relate to communicable disease control and prevention and adult and childhood immunizations.
  • Experience with oversight and supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act and professional standards of nursing practice.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse who has credentials within the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Disease Control Program/Immunization Program and interdisciplinary team.
  • Oversee and manage the after-hours on-call Community Health Nurse team.
  • Administer the program and program practices in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, such as COMAR, CDC, MOSH, and OSHA.
  • Oversee and administer the Local Health Department Office of Vital Records.
  • Manage and oversee state and local funding for the Disease Control/Immunization Program, including budget and contract monitoring.
  • Serve as liaison between the local health department, Maryland Department of Health, and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the Disease Control/Immunization Program and participate in state cohort and case reviews, Disease Control Council of Governments (COG), public health emergency preparedness and response activities, and other stakeholder activities and trainings.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Foster a positive labor relations environment based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation as a manager/supervisor of unionized employees.

  • The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $101,474 to $164,367, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
