About The Position

Under the general direction of the Director and Associate Director of the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), the Disability Management Specialist – Autism (SSP III) provides comprehensive disability management, accommodations, and support services for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental or mental health conditions that significantly impact executive functioning, social communication, and self-regulation skills. The incumbent ensures equitable access to educational opportunities and fosters student access through individualized accommodations, proactive case management, skill development, and collaboration with faculty and staff. The position also supports campus-wide education and outreach to promote inclusion, accessibility, and awareness of neurodiversity across the University community. Work is performed independently with broad discretion and professional judgment. May provide lead work direction, training, and supervision to graduate interns, student assistants, and/or peer mentors.

Requirements

Graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper-division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
Two years of progressively responsible professional experience working with students with specific learning disabilities, psychiatric disabilities, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, other cognitive disabilities and symptoms, and limitations related to specific medical conditions.
Demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
Must reside in the State of California.
Must complete a background check satisfactorily.
Must comply with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act as a mandated reporter.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in a job-related field.
Experience serving students with disabilities, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other mental health conditions in higher education.
