As a Disability Claim Examiner, you will play a critical role in supporting our customers during some of the most important moments of their lives. You will manage a caseload of Short-Term Disability and Absence claims, applying sound judgment, analytical expertise, and empathy to deliver timely, accurate, and fair claim decisions. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a collaborative, performance driven environment that values quality, accountability, and professional growth. The current employee work arrangement for this position is fully virtual. While this position does not require your on-site presence on a regular basis, depending on business preferences, there may be occasions where you are required to be on-site at a Prudential office.

Requirements

  • Open to candidates with diverse professional backgrounds, including hospitality, case management, absence management, and short‑term disability functions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, managing competing priorities with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving individual development goals and performance objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex decisions clearly.
  • Proven customer service skills with a genuine commitment to helping other.
  • Highly organized, goal oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a changing, evolving organization.
  • Proficiency in a Windows based environment, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of experience managing Short Term Disability and/or Absence claims.
  • Previous knowledge of claim and risk management, including contract interpretation and administration.
  • College degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a designated block of Disability and Absence claims from intake through resolution.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and well-reasoned claim decisions in accordance with policy provisions and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders by providing clear, compassionate, and professional communication.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer experience, ensuring claimants feel supported and informed throughout the process.
  • Analyze medical, occupational, and financial information to determine eligibility and ongoing benefits.
  • Build and maintain productive customer relationships through reliability, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
  • Consistently meet productivity, quality, and service metrics in a fast paced, performance driven environment.
  • Collaborate with peers and leaders while demonstrating the ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
