About The Position

Orion Innovation is hiring a senior delivery leader to oversee program and portfolio management within its delivery department. The role is accountable for efficient IT service delivery, resource management, financial performance, and alignment with organizational and client goals. It leads a large, multi-workstream technical program while managing a client engagement as a portfolio of concurrent projects. This is a delivery management position rather than a hands-on engineering role; the leader directs technical teams and guides delivery across infrastructure and server migrations, cloud transformation, AI-enabled legacy modernization, and DevOps initiatives. The position owns program governance, scope and change control, budget and profitability, staffing and utilization, and risk and issue management. It leads globally distributed teams across India, the US, and other delivery centers, and partners with architects, engineering leads, shared services, Centers of Excellence, sales, presales, procurement, and vendor management. As the day-to-day senior client contact and trusted advisor, the role manages executive communication, escalations, and opportunities to expand account value. The role is based in Columbus, Ohio, and requires working onsite at the client location five days per week. The candidate must be based in or willing to relocate to Columbus. Occasional travel to other client and delivery locations may be required.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in technology delivery and program or project management.
  • 5+ years leading large-scale technical programs for enterprise clients; experience in utilities, energy, or another regulated, infrastructure-heavy industry is ideal.
  • Proven experience delivering programs involving server or infrastructure migration, cloud transformation, legacy modernization, and DevOps.
  • Track record owning program financials, including budgeting, forecasting, margin management, and profitability reporting.
  • Experience managing globally distributed delivery teams across India, the US, and other regions.
  • Experience managing a client account as a portfolio of multiple concurrent projects, rather than as a single program.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with sales and presales on solutioning and proposal reviews.
  • Experience working with shared services or Centers of Excellence within a technology consulting or systems integration firm.
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and/or GCP; infrastructure and server migration approaches; DevOps toolchains including CI/CD and infrastructure as code; and modern application and legacy modernization approaches, including AI-enabled modernization.
  • Ability to engage directly with architects and engineers on solution design, technical risk, and delivery approach, while directing and managing technical work rather than performing it hands-on.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Columbus, Ohio.
  • Able to work onsite at the client location five days a week and travel occasionally to other client and delivery locations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in utilities, energy, or another regulated, infrastructure-heavy industry.
  • AI-enabled legacy modernization experience.
  • PMP, PgMP, or PMI-ACP certification.
  • SAFe Agilist or SAFe Program Consultant certification.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Associate-level or higher cloud certification in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • MBA or advanced degree.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of a large, multi-workstream technical program, with accountability for scope, schedule, quality, and outcomes.
  • Manage the client engagement as a portfolio of concurrent projects and workstreams, with consistent governance, reporting, and prioritization.
  • Apply scope and change management, ensuring changes are assessed, approved, and reflected in schedule, budget, and staffing before execution.
  • Establish and run program governance, including steering committees, status reporting, RAID logs, and escalation paths.
  • Provide delivery direction across server migrations, cloud transformation, AI-enabled legacy modernization, and DevOps initiatives, translating business goals into a technical roadmap.
  • Partner with architects and engineering leads to validate solution approaches, sequencing, and risks, and challenge and de-risk delivery plans.
  • Ensure agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud operating practices are applied consistently and aligned with client standards.
  • Build and manage the program financial plan; track actuals against forecast and report margin and profitability at account and project levels.
  • Manage commercial levers, including rate cards, utilization, staffing mix, and scope changes, to protect and grow profitability while delivering client value.
  • Present financial and delivery performance to internal leadership and client stakeholders using clear, data-backed narratives.
  • Own resource management for the allocated project team, including staffing plans, role coverage, capacity, and utilization across the portfolio.
  • Balance resourcing across concurrent projects, anticipate capacity gaps and surges, and adjust staffing as scope and priorities change.
  • Manage the performance, growth, and day-to-day direction of the delivery team assigned to the account.
  • Lead and align delivery teams across India, the US, and other global delivery centers, establishing cohesive working norms and clear handoffs across time zones.
  • Partner with shared services and Centers of Excellence to obtain specialist capabilities such as cloud, data, security, AI, and quality engineering.
  • Build a delivery model that combines onshore client presence with global delivery scale while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
  • Serve as the day-to-day senior client contact and trusted advisor to program sponsors, IT leadership, and business stakeholders.
  • Own client communication, including status updates, executive reporting, and issue and escalation management.
  • Anticipate client needs and identify opportunities to expand the value delivered on the account.
  • Lead organizational and technical change management, ensuring adoption, communication, and readiness activities keep pace with delivery.
  • Maintain risk and issue management processes, escalate early, and drive resolution with client and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with sales and presales on proposals and statements of work, reviewing delivery feasibility, staffing models, and risks.
  • Contribute delivery and technical input to solution design, ensuring proposals can be built, staffed, and delivered as committed.
  • Use delivery credibility with the client to identify and shape opportunities that grow the account.
  • Own timely hiring and procurement of program resources, from defining requirements through interviewing and final hiring decisions.
  • Partner with procurement and vendor management on subcontracted or augmented resources to ensure the team is staffed for delivery commitments.
