Director Technology - Integration Platform Engineering

Gen II Fund Services•Boston, MA
•$180,000 - $220,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Gen II is seeking a Director Technology, Integration Platform to lead its Data & Integration Platform’s integration function, which connects more than 40 systems across the fund-administration technology estate. The integration function operates as an AI-assisted delivery factory for building, testing, and deploying adapters using Azure integration services. The Director is accountable for integration delivery and production support, engineering staff, platform technology and architecture, vendor relationships, and delivery infrastructure. The product function owns the platform roadmap; this role owns the capacity, delivery commitments, and technical direction used to build it. The role is externally focused and strategic, with substantial engagement with business stakeholders and technology peers to agree on outcomes, uphold committed service levels, and set the direction of engineering practice. The Director is expected to maintain enough technical depth to contribute to delivery and incident resolution while building a team that can perform without depending on the Director’s direct involvement. AI-assisted engineering is already used in development, testing, and production support, and the Director is expected to advance its use. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, the Director works with peers in architecture, data, and product, and is supported by a Tech Lead who provides day-to-day technical leadership. The function is being established across the UK/EU and US to cover both user bases and the full working day; the Director will build the team, operating standards, and service model. The role follows a flexible hybrid schedule, with office attendance expected 1–4 days per week as needed. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years in technology roles, including at least 3 years of line-managing engineering teams.
  • Experience owning an integration function or platform team at director or equivalent level, with accountability for platform architecture and technology as well as delivery and support.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Azure integration services, including Function Apps, Logic Apps Standard, API Management, and Service Bus; able to own the architecture and having personally designed and built integration solutions.
  • Demonstrated ownership of platform-level integration architecture, including target-state design, pattern libraries, standards, and technology selection, with decisions documented and defended through governance or review.
  • Sound judgment in non-functional design, including resilience, throughput, security, observability, and API governance.
  • Experience running production support against defined SLAs, including out-of-hours coverage, and delivering measurable service improvement.
  • Experience owning CI/CD and infrastructure as code for a delivery function, including pipelines, automated testing, deployment gates, and Bicep or an equivalent tool.
  • Established use of AI-assisted engineering in delivery and support, with Claude Code or an equivalent already embedded in team practices.
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders and the ability to maintain positions on scope and feasibility at executive level while preserving relationships.
  • Experience owning a software and services budget and vendor relationships.
  • Experience building a team from a small base rather than inheriting a mature team.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fund administration, private capital, or broader financial services.
  • Experience working across US and UK/EU teams and time zones.
  • Strong C# background.

Responsibilities

  • Own integration delivery and support across the technology estate, including commitments, quality, and business-facing SLAs.
  • Line-manage integration engineering staff and recruit for an open Tech Lead role and a growing team.
  • Establish team operations with the Tech Lead, who provides day-to-day technical direction to engineers and supports architecture and standards.
  • Own the production support model, including out-of-hours cover for critical P1/P2 issues across US and EU time zones, and turn recurring incidents into permanent fixes.
  • Proactively report delivery and service performance to technology and business leadership.
  • Set standards for AI-assisted engineering with Claude Code, including Function Apps, Logic Apps workflows, APIM policies, infrastructure-as-code templates, and documentation.
  • Expand AI-assisted testing through generated test cases, scaffolding, and routine test-coverage improvement.
  • Build AI-assisted support capabilities for triage, diagnosis, root-cause summaries, runbook generation, and progression toward self-healing.
  • Measure and reduce the time and effort required to deliver adapters through AI and reusable patterns.
  • Own the integration platform’s architecture, target state, patterns, standards, and technology selection, aligned with cross-domain architectural direction.
  • Own CI/CD, automated test execution, deployment gates, and Bicep-based infrastructure as code for the integration estate, including the Senior DevOps capability in the function.
  • Drive adoption of the pattern library and reusable system wrappers to reduce the cost of successive adapters.
  • Maintain standards for observability, resilience, throughput, security, managed-identity authentication, and API governance through APIM.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for integration service and delivery with application owners, operations leadership, and the wider technology estate; route new demand through the product function.
  • Own function capacity and delivery commitments, make realistic commitments, and provide early notice of risk to cross-functional plans.
  • Work with product on roadmap and priorities, with product deciding business priority and the Director determining feasibility and technical sequencing.
  • Partner with the data platform function so both halves of DIP operate as one platform, and work with architecture and quality engineering on standards and test automation.
  • Own tooling selection, platform licensing, and the function’s software and services budget.
  • Own vendor relationships for integration tooling and third-party platforms, including commercial discussions, service performance, and escalations.
  • Make and defend build-versus-buy decisions and retire tooling that is not providing value.

Benefits

  • Discretionary bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Training to advance technical and personal skills
