About the position
The Director of Program Management at Allergan Data Labs will be responsible for driving the Data Science, Engineering, and Analytics programs within the company. They will lead a team of data technical program managers, mentor and enable learning, and ensure timely and effective delivery of projects. The Director will also play a key role in planning and releasing a portfolio of products, scaling planning and execution frameworks, and improving processes across the entire team. Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage a team of data technical program managers
- Mentor and enable learning in the team's domain
- Drive value to the business while creating a positive and safe environment for teams
- Leverage business acumen and deep understanding of products and A-DL vision to ensure timely and effective delivery across the portfolio
- Own and coordinate the release and planning of a portfolio of products
- Help drive prioritization together with Product Managers and stakeholders
- Scale planning, execution frameworks, and risk management to teams and executive leadership
- Evolve and drive high-quality internal documentation for all projects
- Drive accountability across groups and provide visibility and communications to leadership
- Develop processes to streamline and optimize teamwork across the entire team and partners
- Drive change and improvement on multiple initiatives across all programs
- 8+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager or equivalent
- 4+ years of management experience, managing a team of Technical Program Managers and driving large-scale initiatives
- Strong leadership skills and a sense of ownership with a continuous improvement mindset
- Previous experience in Data Science, Engineering related to Software
- Passionate about leadership, continuous improvement, and process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and understanding of impact when changes occur to scope or timeline
- Experience working in a startup environment desired
Requirements
- 8+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of management experience, managing a team of Technical Program Managers and driving large-scale initiatives across departments.
- Strong leadership skills and a sense of ownership with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Previous experience in Data Science, Engineering related to Software (either as an engineer or as a manager) enabling you to take part in technical discussions and speak the same "language" as our teams.
- Passionate about leadership, continuous improvement, and process.
- Excellent written & verbal communication, building relationships across the organization, and bridging gaps.
- Excellent attention to detail and understanding of impact when changes occur to scope or timeline.
- Experience working in a startup environment desired.
