About The Position

Salesforce is seeking a Director of Solution Engineering for Financial Services to lead a senior and strategically important SE team within Salesforce’s Data Foundation organization. This team supports Strategic and Enterprise Financial Services institutions across banking, insurance, capital markets, and fintech. The Solution Engineers reporting to this leader are experienced technical professionals, many of whom are Principal-level or industry-recognized experts. This role requires a leader who can earn followership, sharpen elite talent, and raise the professional bar of the Solution Engineering discipline. The Director will be responsible for elevating the capabilities of highly successful professionals, ensuring teams demonstrate executive presence and architectural authority, aligning technical strategy with Sales leadership, industry trends, and emerging AI-driven architectures, and positioning Salesforce’s Data Foundation (MuleSoft + Informatica + Data360 + AI) as a strategic layer of enterprise transformation. This role is central to how Salesforce engages Financial Services customers around trusted data, enterprise architecture, and AI-enabled business models.

Requirements

10+ years in Solution Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, or Enterprise Architecture
Experience leading and mentoring senior technical professionals
Demonstrated ability to influence individuals without relying on authority
Deep understanding of banking, insurance, capital markets, fintech, or payments
Familiarity with regulatory, operational, and technology pressures facing the industry
Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, API and event architectures, data platforms and governance, and AI-enabled business architectures
Comfort engaging senior leaders including CIO, CTO, CDO, Enterprise Architects, and Line-of-business executives
A bias for clarity, accountability, professional standards, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

Lead and Develop an Elite SE Organization: Lead a team of senior and principal Solution Engineers supporting the largest Financial Services customers. Earn credibility with highly experienced technical professionals, coach senior SEs to elevate their craft in strategy, storytelling, architecture, and influence, identify skill gaps early and drive continuous development, and build the next generation of Principal SEs, Distinguished SEs, Strategic Client Architects, and Leaders. Lean-in with our Sales team - AEs, RVPs, and AVP.
Raise the Professional Bar of Solution Engineering: Define excellence for Strategic/Enterprise Solution Engineers, elevating executive communication, discovery and problem framing, business outcome alignment, architectural storytelling, demonstration craftsmanship, and strategic deal orchestration. Ensure the team operates as trusted advisors to senior technology leaders.
Drive the Data Foundation Strategy for Financial Services: Ensure the team can clearly articulate how Salesforce’s Data Foundation enables trusted, connected, and governed data for AI deployment through MuleSoft integration architecture, Informatica data management and governance, Data360 and analytics, and AI and Agent-driven automation. Guide CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, and enterprise architects through the architectural journey.
Partner with Sales Leadership to Win Strategic Deals: Work closely with AVP, RVPs, Strategic AEs, Client Architects, Platform SE teams, Salesforce Core teams, and Informatica teams. Inspect pipeline quality and opportunity execution, provide technical deal strategy for must-win opportunities, anticipate risk early, and ensure SE engagement drives confidence, differentiation, and technical wins. Shape account strategies and market narratives.
Establish Technical Thought Leadership: Shape Financial Services technical narratives for the field, including industry architectures for AI-ready data platforms, integration and data governance patterns, Financial Services-specific transformation strategies, and reusable demos, POVs, and solution frameworks. Ensure output is repeatable, scalable intellectual property.
