Director, Software Engineering, Agent Platform

SentinelOne
•$206,250 - $309,000

About The Position

The Director, Software Engineering, Agent Platform leads SentinelOne’s Agent Platform organization, which owns the control plane relied on by every SentinelOne agent. The domain includes agent communication and configuration, agent management and health, and detection services that turn agent telemetry into customer protection. This US-based role leads approximately 45 engineers across four teams in the Czech Republic, Israel, India, and the United States. The director owns delivery, operational health, and customer- and executive-facing communication for the domain during US business hours, and partners closely with the SaaS Platform architecture group on platform re-architecture. Candidates must be based in the EST or CST time zones to overlap with globally distributed teams. The organization is moving from a monolithic control plane to regional, horizontally scalable services and a modern container-based deployment model. The director is accountable for delivering this transition while keeping the existing platform running for customers, strengthening reliability, growing managers and senior engineering capability in the US, and balancing reliability, re-architecture, and feature delivery. SentinelOne describes itself as an AI-native cybersecurity company whose platform unifies protection across endpoint, cloud, identity, data, and AI systems. The company seeks people committed to continuous learning and building fluency in AI tools and concepts.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures, using clear ownership, strong written communication, deliberate overlap, and trust.
  • Experience operating a high-availability SaaS platform in production, including incident command, root-cause discipline, SLOs, and improving reliability trends using data.
  • Strong background in distributed backend systems at scale, including cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, data stores, and multi-tenancy, with the ability to evaluate technical designs and engage credibly with staff engineers and architects.
  • Ability to communicate accurately with executives, including when reporting difficult information, and to represent engineering credibly to customers.
  • Track record of predictable execution, clear ownership, reliable planning, and meeting commitments.
  • Experience managing managers, hiring senior engineers, and raising the capability bar of an organization.
  • Business judgment to connect engineering investment to customer outcomes and explain trade-offs among reliability, re-architecture, and new capabilities.
  • Typically 12 or more years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading multiple teams through managers in a SaaS or cloud infrastructure environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Must be based in the EST or CST time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Security domain experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery, operational health, quality, and roadmap commitments for the Agent Platform domain.
  • Drive the reliability program by reducing incident inflow, closing corrective actions within target windows, and improving observability to identify problems before customers do.
  • Lead and develop four engineering managers across three geographies, establish consistent expectations, and build leadership depth.
  • Represent the domain to executives and customers, lead executive communication during incidents and in regular forums, and engage enterprise, MSSP, and federal customers on platform questions.
  • Partner with the agent and endpoint organizations, SaaS Platform architecture group, Product Management, and SRE to achieve cross-domain outcomes.
  • Lead delivery of the transition from a monolithic control plane to regional, horizontally scalable services and a modern container-based deployment model while maintaining the existing platform for customers.
  • Plan capacity and headcount, balance reliability, re-architecture, and feature delivery, and communicate trade-offs to Product and leadership.
  • Grow senior engineering capability in the United States to increase organizational depth during US hours.
  • Deliver first-year outcomes including sustained reductions in incident inflow, timely corrective actions, proactive visibility into domain health, delivery of major modernization milestones without customer-visible regressions, predictable team execution, stronger managers, and increased US senior engineering presence.
