About The Position

The Director, Regional People (Sam’s Club) is a strategic, outcome-driven leader responsible for translating business priorities into people strategies that drive measurable impact across talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness. This role partners closely with regional operational leadership to shape decisions, elevate leadership capability, and ensure consistent execution of enterprise people priorities in the field. The Director leverages data, insights, and field engagement to diagnose organizational needs, influence leadership actions, and drive sustained improvements in business performance, associate experience, and workforce effectiveness. This role brings the voice of the associate into leadership discussions, ensuring decisions reflect the realities of the field and drive meaningful improvements in engagement, retention, and overall experience. Beyond partnership, this role holds accountability for raising the bar on leadership standards, strengthening talent pipelines, and embedding a culture of ownership, feedback, and continuous improvement across the region. The Sam’s Club End-to-End People Team operates as a strategic partner to the business—focused on building a high-performing, people-led organization prepared for the future of retail. The team leads enterprise priorities across leadership development, associate experience, workforce strategy, and organizational transformation, ensuring they are translated into practical, scalable solutions in the field. Through strong cross-functional partnership, the team drives alignment between enterprise strategy and field execution. Success in this team requires curiosity, critical thinking, and a bias for action—combined with a clear focus on outcomes, accountability, and developing leaders at every level of the organization.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading and managing teams at an enterprise/multi-unit scale.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing regional talent management and workforce planning strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in analyzing data to identify performance trends and implement effective action plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR operations, compliance, and regulatory requirements at the regional level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change management initiatives and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with experience aligning human resource strategies to business objectives.
  • Commitment to fostering high-performing teams and supporting talent development and succession planning.
  • BA/BS degree in an HR related field (e.g., Business Administration, Human Resource Development, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations/Labor Relations, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Management, Organizational Development/Organizational Behavior) and 5 years HR Generalist or Specialist experience supporting a multi-unit/multi-business environment OR 8 years of HR experience with at least 4 years experience as an HR generalist supporting a multi-unit/multi-business environment OR 4 years of Wal-Mart Manager-level experience leading an operational unit with responsibility for supervising other salaried managers (e.g., Compensation, Learning and Development, Benefits, Organizational Development, Logistics, HR Strategy, Operations, Communications).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regional talent management strategies aligned with business objectives and workforce needs.
  • Oversee execution of HR policies, programs, and compliance to ensure consistent application across the region.
  • Analyze regional data to identify performance trends, talent gaps, and develop action plans to address them.
  • Lead change management initiatives by aligning operational goals with HR strategies and communicating plans effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support workforce development, succession planning, and associate engagement.
  • Monitor regional performance against plans, driving continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.
  • Driving outcomes vs. executing programs.
