As the Clinical Operations Manager for the Radiology Department, you will serve as a key leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily clinical operations. Working under limited supervision, you will manage clinical managers and supervisors, drive quality and compliance, and ensure an exceptional experience for patients, staff, and referring partners alike. You will also serve as acting Radiology Administrator in periods of absence.

Requirements

Proven leadership experience in a clinical operations or radiology management setting
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements including The Joint Commission, ACR, HIPAA, and OSHA
Experience managing budgets, cost centers, and financial performance
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
A commitment to patient safety, staff development, and continuous quality improvement
Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Bachelor’s degree in business or health sciences is required.
Eight years progressively responsible experience within a radiology department in addition five years at a supervisory or leadership position is required.
Experience with organizational and leadership skills, ability to provide leadership in a matrixed work environment, problem-solving skills.
Experience of working with budgets, financial management and provider billing.
Proficient knowledge of medical imaging, related terminology and technical knowledge within the area of specialty (e.g. CT, MRI) is required.
Knowledge of various types of radiology equipment, particularly those of the area of specialty, where applicable, is required.
Proficient organization and problem-solving skills are required to develop/implement efficient work processes, and to successfully resolve difficult, conflict-oriented situations for the common good.
Proficient guest relations skills are required in order to positively and effectively present a good image of the organization and the Radiology department to its customers.
Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach and motivate the performance of subordinate administrative, clinical, and professional employees.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit/area/department policies and procedures.
Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills are required in order to work with medical and nursing staff to resolve any departmental concerns and to supervise/manage staff.

Nice To Haves

CPR certification is appreciated.
Equivalent experience could be considered if validated by Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) certification.
Master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and evaluate the performance of clinical managers and supervisors; support hiring, performance management, and corrective action in accordance with UMMS policies
Establish clear work procedures, performance standards, and expectations across staff productivity, finance, billing, service quality, and patient satisfaction
Manage patient care operations within the Radiology Department, including master schedule management, modality availability, and patient scheduling templates
Ensure adequate staffing levels and optimal use of equipment and staff resources across the department
Engage in short- and long-range planning with the Radiology Senior Administrator, including new equipment acquisition and service offerings
Manage the Radiation Safety Program in collaboration with the RSO and clinical managers, ensuring yearly competencies and compliance testing are completed
Direct and continuously improve the Departmental Quality Program
Manage multiple cost centers, including annual operating budgets, capital requests, volume projections, revenue forecasting, and variance reporting
Monitor monthly financial performance, approve purchasing requests, and ensure charge capture accuracy and billing compliance
Enforce compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as The Joint Commission, ACR, HIPAA, and OSHA requirements
Maintain records and documentation of staff and quality assurance activities
Oversee inventory management, procurement of equipment and supplies, and resolution of delivery or product quality issues
Plan and oversee space utilization, reconfigurations, and renovations
Champion customer satisfaction across all stakeholders — patients, referring physicians, radiologists, insurance companies, and staff
Represent the Department at clinical practice, productivity, and Joint Commission meetings
Address and resolve impediments related to IT, registration, billing, housekeeping, and resource utilization
