About The Position

The Director, Project Management is a senior operational leader within Pipeline and Project Management, accountable for cross-functional leadership, operational strategy, and integrated execution across high-visibility oncology development programs. Acting as the “COO of the Asset,” the Director is the strategic operational partner to the Global Project Lead and oversees complex programs that may span multiple indications. The role coordinates Project Managers across indication teams to harmonize timelines, resolve cross-indication dependencies, and align execution with the overarching asset strategy. The Director establishes a single source of truth across Planisware and Smartsheet, drives proactive risk mitigation, and develops decision-ready scenarios for leadership to optimize critical paths and help accelerate therapies to patients. The position leads teams across the drug development lifecycle, including late-stage development, regulatory filings, and commercial launch, and communicates program progress, trade-offs, risks, resource needs, and recommendations to executive leadership and governance committees.

  • Proven ability to manage a single program or asset across multiple therapeutic indications while coordinating multiple Project Managers within an integrated asset structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without formal line authority, foster accountability, and build consensus across senior cross-functional leaders.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to synthesize complex timeline, risk, and resource information into clear executive summaries.
  • Advanced, hands-on proficiency in Planisware, Smartsheet, and Oracle for enterprise scheduling, risk tracking, budgeting, and resource-demand management.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Global Project Lead to translate the target product profile and clinical development strategy into an integrated program plan spanning target indications.
  • Prepare executive presentations for asset governance and executive leaders.
  • Develop operational scenarios, including base-case, accelerated, and de-risked models, and analyze trade-offs involving speed, cost, risk, and value.
  • Cultivate a high-performing, purpose-driven team culture grounded in psychological safety, transparency, mutual accountability, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Direct and align Project Managers leading indication sub-teams and functional workstreams to harmonize standards, milestones, and program delivery.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional Core Teams across Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, CMC/Technical Operations, Nonclinical, Medical Affairs, and Commercial without formal authority.
  • Interrogate project assumptions, resolve operational bottlenecks, and optimize timelines and critical paths through late-stage development, regulatory filings, and commercial launch.
  • Map, track, and manage cross-indication dependencies, including clinical trial supplies, safety readouts, and shared regulatory dossiers.
  • Maintain data integrity and transparency for indication milestones, deliverables, and resource allocations in Planisware and Smartsheet.
  • Lead asset risk management, maintain dynamic risk registers, quantify impact and probability, and drive mitigation plans.
