About The Position

Invenergy is seeking a Director to lead integration of energy and infrastructure solutions for large-scale data center developments within its Digital Infrastructure business line. The role brings together independently managed workstreams across renewable and thermal generation, geothermal, battery storage, transmission, grid integration, and data center development to create coordinated, executable energy solutions. It is an integration and program leadership role, rather than a discipline-specific engineering, sales, origination, or traditional PMO position; individual teams retain responsibility for their assets and workstreams, while the Director is accountable for the overall energy architecture, critical interfaces, sequencing, system-level decisions, and alignment with data center power requirements. The Director will support projects ranging from individual facilities to multi-building campuses requiring hundreds of megawatts or more. The role requires energy-development and program leadership experience, as well as the technical judgment to understand how power technologies and infrastructure systems interact. The successful candidate will identify necessary analyses, challenge assumptions, reconcile workstreams, frame tradeoffs, and drive teams toward reliable, executable solutions aligned with project schedules and capital requirements. The position will also help establish repeatable integrated energy delivery approaches for Invenergy’s growing Digital Infrastructure portfolio. Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule: in-office Monday through Thursday and remote on Fridays if work permits. Travel to project sites, partner locations, and other locations may be required. The stated annual base pay range is $200,000–$235,000, with a 30–40% bonus. Invenergy also offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k), and paid time off.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in energy or major infrastructure development, including significant experience developing or delivering complex power-generation, grid, storage, transmission, or integrated energy projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading programs involving multiple energy technologies, infrastructure workstreams, or large-load requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of power-generation and infrastructure development, with experience across multiple technologies such as renewables, thermal generation, storage, transmission, grid infrastructure, or geothermal.
  • Ability to understand and integrate complex technical analyses without personally performing every underlying engineering calculation or study.
  • Strong understanding of energy-development processes, including interconnection, permitting, project development, capital planning, construction sequencing, operating constraints, and execution risk.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving outcomes across organizations where individual workstream leaders do not directly report to the role.
  • Ability to frame complex system-level issues, evaluate alternatives and tradeoffs, reconcile competing priorities, and drive timely decisions.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex technical and project information into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites, partner locations, and other locations as required.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, energy, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing or delivering integrated energy systems, hybrid power projects, microgrids, large-load infrastructure, or multi-technology generation and storage portfolios.
  • Experience with utility-scale generation, battery storage, transmission, large-load interconnection, behind-the-meter energy systems, or grid-connected hybrid projects.
  • Experience supporting large industrial, manufacturing, mining, LNG, data center, or other energy-intensive customers where multiple infrastructure systems had to be integrated around a common load requirement.
  • Familiarity with data center power requirements, hyperscale infrastructure, large-load phasing, reliability expectations, and speed-to-power considerations.
  • Experience working within an independent power producer, utility, infrastructure developer, large energy user, or integrated power-solutions organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integrated energy solutions programs for assigned data center developments, coordinating generation, storage, grid, and infrastructure workstreams into a unified strategy and execution plan.
  • Develop the integrated energy architecture, defining the roles, phasing, and interactions of grid supply, renewable and dispatchable generation, geothermal, battery storage, transmission, and other technologies.
  • Translate data center load requirements—including capacity, phasing, load ramp, reliability, redundancy, import/export limits, backup strategy, and future expansion—into coordinated requirements for energy and infrastructure workstreams.
  • Establish and maintain the integrated program plan, including milestones, dependencies, interfaces, decision points, critical-path items, and workstream responsibilities.
  • Integrate technical analyses of load and generation profiles, dispatchability, intermittency, storage sizing, grid interactions, operating constraints, reliability, redundancy, and applicable islanding or backup scenarios.
  • Evaluate system-level alternatives and tradeoffs involving reliability, speed-to-power, capital and operating costs, execution risk, permitting, interconnection, scalability, and operational complexity.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts, gaps, and dependencies among workstreams before they affect schedules, interconnection, permitting, construction sequencing, capital planning, or data center energization milestones.
  • Coordinate with data center development teams to align energy strategy with site development, facility phasing, target energization dates, load growth, reliability requirements, and operational needs.
  • Ensure project economics and capital planning account for the complete integrated energy solution, coordinating assumptions across technology teams.
  • Drive integrated risk management across energy and data center workstreams, ensuring material risks are identified early and have mitigation plans.
  • Establish program governance and decision-making processes that promote accountability across independently managed workstreams and timely resolution of cross-functional issues.
  • Provide concise, decision-oriented recommendations to senior leadership, explaining issues, business impacts, alternatives, recommended paths, and required decisions.
  • Capture lessons learned and develop repeatable integrated energy planning and delivery frameworks for the Digital Infrastructure portfolio.
