About The Position

The Pharmacy Director for Acute Care oversees all inpatient pharmacy operations across Deaconess Health System. This role is responsible for strategic leadership, pharmaceutical care programs, drug distribution, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and personnel management. Ensures high-quality, cost-effective, and consistent pharmacy services aligned with hospital and system goals.

Requirements

BS Pharmacy or PharmD
Minimum 3 years pharmacy management
Communicates mission, vision, and goals effectively.
Guides leaders and staff in problem-solving and resource management.
Manages change, builds consensus, and makes sound decisions.
Ensures quality, safety, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Uses feedback and data to drive improvements and service excellence.

MBA or MHA
5+ years hospital pharmacy experience

Responsibilities

Directs acute care pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies.
Develops and enforces policies to support patient safety and quality care.
Establishes departmental vision, plans and evaluates programs, and integrates pharmacy services into system-wide initiatives.
Prepares and manages operating and capital budgets, monitors productivity, oversees formulary management, negotiates contracts, and evaluates programs for cost-effectiveness.
Leads CQI activities, tracks performance metrics, ensures safety and compliance systems are in place, and drives continuous improvement.
Recruits, hires, evaluates, and develops pharmacy personnel.
Defines performance expectations, supports staff education, and fosters a healthy work environment.
Collaborates with administration, physicians, and other departments.
Responds to patient concerns, supports service recovery, and builds loyalty through communication and problem-solving.
Participates in hospital committees, quality teams, and system initiatives.
Serves as a consultant for joint ventures.
