About The Position

Specialty Medical Staffing is currently seeking an Interim Director of Pharmacy for an acute care hospital in the Ottumwa, IA area. This is an immediate leadership opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist to oversee pharmacy operations while supporting an established inpatient pharmacy team. We are seeking a pharmacist with strong inpatient and management experience who can provide operational leadership, maintain regulatory compliance, and support high-quality patient care in a collaborative hospital environment.

Requirements

• Active Iowa Pharmacist License in good standing
• Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required
• Management experience required
• Sterile compounding experience required

Nice To Haves

• Previous Director of Pharmacy, PIC, or pharmacy leadership experience preferred
• Experience with Meditech and Omnicell preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Serve as Interim Director of Pharmacy while fulfilling Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) responsibilities
• Provide operational leadership and oversee daily pharmacy services
• Support pharmacy staffing and provide clinical coverage as needed
• Supervise pharmacy personnel and assist with staff development and recruitment efforts
• Participate in departmental meetings, budgeting, and financial oversight
• Support regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and accreditation readiness
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and hospital leadership to optimize medication management and patient care
• Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations and hospital policies
