About The Position

The Director Patient Access directs the administrative and fiscal components of patient access points, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ancillary registration; scheduling; pre-registration; cash management and posting; and bed management where applicable. The role manages staffing and expenses, coordinates with hospital departments and corporate leadership, supports financial clearance and patient eligibility assistance, and works toward revenue cycle operational goals. The Director develops and administers department budgets and ensures compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• Five years of experience in healthcare access management.

Responsibilities

• Manage human resources and expenses to achieve department productivity standards and budget objectives.
• Supervise staff, evaluate work, and recommend and implement approved disciplinary action.
• Coordinate with hospital departments and corporate leadership to resolve problems and develop policies, processes, and programs; coordinate services and support organizational cohesiveness.
• Carry out financial clearance policies and patient eligibility assistance, including insurance verification and financial review, in collaboration with financial counselors, facility leadership, and physician staff.
• Maintain a high degree of customer service.
• Work with system leadership to achieve established revenue cycle operational goals.
• Develop, administer, and remain accountable for department budgets.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, Joint Commission standards, and hospital policies and regulations concerning patient registration and education.
• Protect confidential customer information and comply with HIPAA, company privacy and information security policies, the Code of Business Conduct, and applicable laws and training requirements.
