Requirements

  • 6-8 years in earned media relations for Director role.
  • 8+ years in earned media relations for VP role.
  • Ideally NYC-based.
  • Experience serving as the senior media lead on accounts.
  • Ability and strong proven experience in building thoughtful media relations strategies.
  • Expertise in securing earned media for brands in creative, innovative, and breakthrough ways.
  • Ability to provide feedback to teams with a "yes, and" mentality.
  • A finger on the pulse of what’s being talked about in consumer media.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends and propose ways to leverage them.
  • A passion for earned press and maintaining a rolodex of media contacts.
  • Extensive relationships with media contacts that consistently deliver strong press outputs within culture & entertainment outlets, men’s and women’s lifestyle media outlets, and national press.
  • Willingness to travel once a month for client events or meetings.
  • Willingness to spend time beyond office hours maintaining press relationships and reporting back key intel.
  • An interest in working on spirits & beer brands, as well as CPG brands.
  • Ability to provide client counsel on tough media situations and be solutions oriented.
  • Experience wrangling press, photographers, talent etc. at big ticket events, moments, etc.
  • Experience in media training for marketing/brand teams and celebrity spokespeople.
  • Experience in management of junior team members and leading a small media/pitch team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior media lead on accounts.
  • Provide sound media counsel to brand and PR team leads, as well as C-Suite level executives.
  • Build thoughtful media relations strategies that go beyond basic tactics.
  • Develop creative, innovative, and breakthrough earned media approaches for brands, both planned and opportunistic.
  • Provide insightful pivots and recommendations to improve mediability.
  • Provide feedback to teams with a "yes, and" mentality, building on ideas to make them more media worthy.
  • Identify emerging trends and propose ways to leverage them in a nimble and agile manner.
  • Maintain and leverage a strong network of media contacts.
  • Deliver strong press outputs within culture & entertainment, men’s and women’s lifestyle, and national press outlets.
  • Travel once a month for client events (e.g., music festivals, concert series) as a press entertainer or for major client meetings.
  • Spend time beyond office hours maintaining press relationships and gathering key intel.
  • Provide client counsel on challenging media situations and be solutions-oriented.
  • Wrangle press, photographers, and talent at events to secure assets for earned coverage.
  • Conduct media training for marketing/brand teams and celebrity spokespeople.
  • Manage junior team members and lead small media/pitch teams during activation moments to ensure KPIs are met.
