About The Position

Almaden Neighborhood Church in San Jose, California, is seeking a Christ-centered, Spirit-led part-time Director of Worship to lead and develop a multi-team worship ministry. The Director will coordinate, disciple, and invest in worship leaders, musicians, and audio/visual volunteers, equipping teams to lead the congregation in authentic worship with musical excellence. The Director will lead Sunday morning worship regularly, collaborate with the Lead Pastor to plan services around sermon themes and Scripture, select songs consistent with the church’s theology and culture, and support worship team leaders when not personally leading. The role also involves recruiting, training, scheduling, and developing multiple worship and audio/visual teams; providing spiritual encouragement and discipleship; and overseeing the technical audio and visual aspects of services, including sound, slides, livestream, and podcast. The position is 15–20 hours per week and reports to the Lead Pastor.

Requirements

Have a passionate and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Agree with the Christian and Missionary Alliance statement of faith.
Be licensed or willing to be licensed with the C&MA.
Agree with the mission and values of Almaden Neighborhood Church.
Be a member or willing to become a member of ANC.
Have experience leading volunteer teams in a church or ministry setting.
Have strong communication and relational skills.
Be able to handle conflict in a biblical manner.
Be able to work in cross-cultural settings.
Have strong musical and worship-leading ability in vocals and/or an instrument.
Have a basic understanding of sound and livestream technology.

Nice To Haves

Ability to read and transpose music.
Some formal training in worship ministry, theology, or leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead Sunday morning worship regularly, including appropriate Scripture and prayers as led by the Spirit.
Support worship team leaders and help maintain consistent quality when not personally leading.
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to plan weekly worship services that reflect the sermon theme and Scripture.
Select songs consistent with Almaden Neighborhood Church’s theology and culture.
Be available to lead worship at additional events and services.
Recruit, train, and schedule multiple worship teams of musicians and vocalists.
Oversee and develop audio/visual teams, including sound and livestream volunteers.
Schedule and oversee regular rehearsals and trainings.
Attend monthly staff meetings and quarterly ministry team meetings to coordinate with other church ministries.
Cultivate humility, excellence, and servanthood in the worship ministry.
Provide spiritual encouragement and discipleship to team members.
Create regular opportunities for team gatherings, prayer, and community.
Oversee the technical audio and visual aspects of worship services, including sound, slides, livestream, and podcast.
Stay up to date and receive training to optimize systems and train teams in effective implementations.
Troubleshoot issues involving instruments, sound equipment, and livestream.
