About The Position

Manages the day-to-day functions of the undergraduate admissions department. Provides training, support and supervision for associate directors and territory managers. The SAIC Admissions team supports one of the nation’s leading art and design institutions, connecting prospective students with interdisciplinary programs, world-class resources and a vibrant creative community. The department plays a key role in recruiting, preparing and guiding future artists, designers and scholars through the admissions process.

Requirements

  • Master of Fine Arts Degree or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of progressive admissions experience
  • 1-3 years of prior recruitment, college admissions and/or student affairs experience preferred.
  • Evening and weekend work, travel, and a valid driver’s license are required.
  • Interest in contemporary visual arts, and the ability to speak, review, and write clearly about the work of young artists.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Computer skills on a PC and Mac including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Google Suite applications.
  • Ability to learn additional software as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education admissions a plus.
  • Experience working directly with CRM software (Slate, Salesforce, etc.) and PeopleSoft Student Information System is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, supervises and evaluates all new/continuing Associate Directors with a focus on job duties and expectations.
  • Plans and facilitates pre-season recruitment workshops for staff and faculty.
  • Travels domestically and internationally to assigned territories for National Portfolio Days and SAIC recruitment events; evaluates travel organization, presentations, communication with educators, and event coordination, while providing ongoing coaching and support to Associate Directors in these areas.
  • Support the office in other duties as assigned including but not limited to application, portfolio review, and waitlist management.
  • Lead registration process for new students each semester. Including but not limited to: partnering with undergraduate division and registrar office assessing course offerings & times, monitoring enrollment and advocating for enhancements to first-year program offerings, training staff on registration process and various operations.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Admissions and Associate Directors on new recruitment strategies in all domestic and international territories based on trends, numbers, and evaluations.
  • Coordinates and executes diversity outreach programming, including but not limited to: City of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools and Illinois initiatives.
  • Coordinate weekly in person or virtual staff and faculty meetings and ongoing trainings.
  • Work with Associate Director of Transfer Students and International Territory Managers for domestic on and off campus event planning and staffing and liaise with other departments as necessary.
  • Research new and emerging national and regional scholarship competitions/exhibitions and work with Executive Directors to enhance the competitive scholarship process.
  • Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • Maintains an understanding of the latest trends in student recruitment and willingness to stay current regarding cultural competency knowledge and lead with a Diversity Equity and Inclusion lens.
  • Serves as a liaison to part-time faculty, Student Affairs, the Undergraduate Division, the Dean’s Office, and other departments as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
