About The Position

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions recruits and counsels prospective students through high school visits, college fairs, admissions interviews, and recruitment events across the United States. This role builds and maintains relationships with students, parents, guidance counselors, alumni, and faculty while representing Yeshiva University and its undergraduate programs. The Assistant Director also supports the admissions review process and assists incoming students with enrollment, registration, and other transition services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Familiarity with the undergraduate dual curriculum and student experience at Yeshiva University, ideally, having graduated from Yeshiva University
  • Some degree of knowledge of higher education administration and norms, ideally from having worked in some aspect of higher education administration, admissions, or student services
  • Develops effective written communications and uses them appropriately
  • Interacts and proactively shares information with internal and external contacts where appropriate
  • Develops effective relationships with peers, students, and employees
  • Assumes responsibility to ensure issues/concerns will be addressed and monitors them through conclusion
  • Identifies, defines, and analyzes information and situations before recommending a course of action
  • Effectively manages own time and resources
  • Seeks to apply technology and innovation to improve efficiency and solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking
  • Genuine enthusiasm for Yeshiva University

Responsibilities

  • Recruit students by traveling to high schools throughout the United States
  • Attend several recruitment-related Shabbatonim
  • Make presentations to groups of students and/or parents at college fairs at the high schools
  • Conduct individual admissions interviews at the high schools; follow up and maintain contact with student applicants by phone, email, and personal meetings
  • Participate in parlor nights for potential students/parents at the homes of local supportive alumni
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with college advisors at the schools
  • Interview admissions applicants on campus
  • Provide detail and background to support admissions decisions to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Facilitate various kinds of services for incoming students related to student finance, registration, and advising
  • Coordinate faculty visits and other presentations and special events for feeder schools on their campuses, as well as for visiting schools on YU's campuses
