About The Position

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Administration and Engagement, the Director of UDAE Finance is responsible for the financial operations of University Development and Alumni Engagement. This position will play a critical role in the financial reporting and long-term planning for UDAE. The role of the University Development and Alumni Engagement Division (UDAE) is to foster strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance support for Cal Poly. UDAE establishes and implements an overall advancement program, including coordinating fundraising, donor relations, gift processing, trust and endowment management, training and systems support for the donor database, and Cal Poly Foundation support and administration.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures in a complex environment with a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply them.
  • Ability to comprehend financial reports prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • General knowledge in the execution of principles and best practices with fiscal management, record keeping, accounting and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of fiscal analysis and techniques.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field and four years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or business, with at least one year of managerial experience.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
  • The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
