About The Position

Working independently under the general supervision of the Director of External Communications and Annual Giving, this position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies for engaging Cal Poly alumni. This position is responsible for designing and implementing a multichannel approach to engage the 250,000+ alumni base with diverse and inclusive programs, services, and outreach efforts to promote lifelong engagement with Cal Poly. This position will work collaboratively to identify alumni engagement opportunities across campus by working closely with campus colleagues, volunteer leaders, and members of the Cal Poly Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Thorough and advanced knowledge of marketing, branding, communications, public relations, and related disciplines, including working knowledge of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to publications, written materials, and media
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies, campaigns, and programs aligned with university goals, with a proven record of achieving measurable results
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills to collect, interpret, and apply data and market research to drive decision-making, identify target audiences, set priorities, and optimize campaign performance
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, anticipate issues, assess the impact of proposed solutions, and independently make decisions and recommendations with full accountability for results
  • Ability to create and improve policies and procedures using best practices, research, and expertise
  • Demonstrated experience and success in the effective use of data to drive decision-making and priority setting, and the use of such data to implement programs
  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Four years of relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis; an advanced degree may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis)
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain by date of hire
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check)
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment (mandated reporter)
