About The Position

Ivy Tech Community College - Richmond is seeking a full-time Project Director for TRIO/Student Support Services (SSS) to lead the daily coordination of the TRIO SSS grant project. The Director will guide project staff in developing the services, activities, and resources outlined in the grant proposal and will be accountable for fiscal management of grant funds, supervision of project personnel, and reporting of project outcomes. The Director manages the TRIO SSS grant in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations, and supports strategies that serve at-risk and disadvantaged student populations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in educational leadership, education, administrative guidance and counseling, developmental education, counseling, social work, human services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience in collegiate student services or in the delivery of social services to disadvantaged populations.
  • Supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of two years of personnel supervision and budget management.
  • Evidence of strong personnel management skills and fiscal/administrative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the overall implementation of the TRIO grant by administering the program budget and authorizing expenditures of federal funds.
  • Develops, directs, and evaluates the program in accordance with USDOE rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that all items from the approved/awarded proposal are implemented.
  • Designs and/or implements TRIO Program policies and procedures.
  • Completes and submits the Annual Performance Report (APR) in accordance with USDOE instructions, with support from the Sponsored Programs Office.
  • Ensures that project goals and objectives are met and documented throughout the performance and award period.
  • Ensures that all documentation is accurate, accessible, and up to date for audits.
  • Ensures that all State Board of Accounts audit requests are fulfilled promptly, typically within three business days of the request.
  • Ensures the project operates in full compliance with federal regulations and policies, in coordination with the institutional grants manager.
  • Plans and implements, with project staff, a recruitment and persistence plan by assuring equal access to project services for all project participants.
  • Supervises the selection and eligibility determination of project participants according to USDOE program guidelines and College policy.
  • Coordinates and oversees the identification and selection of SSS-eligible students.
  • Maintains a student caseload and allocates appropriate caseload assignments to full- and part-time project staff.
  • Collects and maintains program data.
  • Communicates program availability to students.
  • Conducts selected SSS workshops and seminars and advises participants as appropriate.
  • Works with the SSS Academic/Career Advisor to develop Student Education Plans (SEPs).
  • Coordinates SSS activities.
  • Provides TRIO SSS students with exemplary customer service, including guidance needed to transition successfully to their intended transfer institution or future employment.
  • Participates in college-wide initiatives; plans and facilitates program-sponsored events in collaboration with project staff; coordinates public relations initiatives for the project; and fosters an institutional climate that supports the project's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Communicates TRIO SSS objectives to all staff and coordinates activities to maximize effectiveness and resource utilization.
  • Shares TRIO/SSS strategies and program successes with other areas of the institution.
  • Fosters relationships with area SSS programs and directors.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all programs of study and occupational outlooks to accurately describe program benefits to prospects and stakeholders.
  • Interacts professionally with Ivy Tech students, faculty, staff, and administrators, and demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to the unique needs of the targeted student populations.
  • Manages the program evaluation plan and monitors the various assessments used for recordkeeping.
  • Coordinates project evaluation and data analysis as required by the grant and by internal performance monitoring standards.
  • Uses performance data to identify areas for improvement and takes action to strengthen quality.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of all key processes to support consistent, effective implementation of the TRIO program.
  • Selects, trains, and supervises all SSS staff and student workers.
  • Understands, supports, and actively demonstrates the College's beliefs, values, mission, and vision, and agrees to be evaluated on that basis.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the College's policies, labor agreement, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
