About The Position

This position will serve as the ultimate authority and university expert in all decisions related to and in accordance with the sports performance, health, and injury resilience of 15 NCAA Division II athletic sport teams totaling over 450+ student-athletes. Position serves as the ultimate authority and university expert for the intercollegiate student-athlete weight room facilities. The Director of Sport Performance must follow the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), and all University and Minnesota State regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Health, or related field
  • 2 years of experience working with college Football, Men/Women’s Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Softball, Men/Women’s Cross Country, Men/Women’s Track and Field, Wrestling, Golf, Swim & Dive, Baseball & Adaptive sports.
  • Certified in CSCS or working towards CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification through CSCC)
  • Certified in CPR or the ability to obtain certification upon employment.
  • Knowledge and skills in the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs.
  • Written and verbal communication skills applicable to a wide range of audiences.
  • Knowledge in all areas of the sports medicine/sports performance umbrella including, but not limited to, the following: physiology, biomechanics, anatomy, nutrition, strength and conditioning, physical preparation, injury rehabilitation, drug testing, concussion, recovery, ADD/ADHD and sickle cell.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • 5 years' experience working college Football, Men/Women’s Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Softball, Men/Women’s Cross Country, Men/Women’s Track and Field, Wrestling, Golf, Swim & Dive, Baseball, and Adaptive sports.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve program effectiveness (performance outcomes, efficiency, athlete availability).
  • Ability to translate complex sport science concepts into practical training methods
