About The Position

The Director of Simulation Lab is the college’s senior subject matter expert, providing oversight, direction, and support for simulation experiences in collaboration with faculty. The role ensures quality and continuity in achieving student learning outcomes for the BSN degree program. The director supports students and faculty in the simulation laboratory, develops and evaluates simulation experiences, and provides feedback and professional development to faculty. The position also maintains simulation laboratory policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, and data; coordinates learning schedules and vendor relationships; supervises laboratory personnel; and participates in research and quality improvement related to simulated learning.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN).
Bachelor’s degree.
At least four years of health professional educator experience that includes the use of simulation.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification must be obtained within two years of the employment start date.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional support in the simulation laboratory to help students and faculty improve competencies and skills in meeting course student learning outcomes through simulation experiences.
Direct the development, implementation, and revision of simulation experiences with faculty, based on course student learning outcomes.
Provide faculty with regular and systematic feedback on simulation implementation and debriefing performance.
Create, maintain, and improve policies and procedures to support evidence-based simulation and students’ learning and psychological safety.
Conduct orientation, training, and ongoing professional development in simulation use in nursing education according to INACSL standards of best practice.
Develop and conduct evaluations of the effectiveness of simulated learning.
Maintain and report data on student achievement of learning outcomes through simulation experiences and provide quality-improvement recommendations.
Participate in scholarly research and quality-improvement initiatives related to simulated learning that align with college needs and priorities.
Maintain and update the simulation laboratory, including identifying software, supply, and equipment needs; monitoring and troubleshooting equipment; and resolving staffing problems.
Maintain an appropriate inventory of consumable supplies in the simulation laboratory.
Schedule simulation laboratory learning experiences in collaboration with academic leaders.
Manage relationships with simulation vendors.
Supervise laboratory personnel.
