About The Position

The Director of Security is responsible for implementing comprehensive security strategies to protect national security as well as the organization’s assets, personnel and information. This role leads the security program for the shipbuilding business under a Special Security Agreement. The Director of Security ensures compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and the requirements set forth in the company’s SSA. This position will need to collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of security awareness and preparedness throughout the organization. Additionally, this position requires the ability to respond effectively to security incidents and crises, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Ultimately, the Director of Security plays a crucial role in safeguarding the organization's reputation and operational integrity.

Requirements

  • Exceptional understanding of the NISP and 32 CFR Part 117
  • Expertise in industrial security and contract compliance.
  • Working knowledge of FOCI Mitigation including supplemental plans
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial security management.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
  • Efficient in systems such as DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT
  • Strong leadership to direct a security program across a large, complex operation with the ability to influence a security awareness culture throughout.
  • Analytical skills are vital for conducting risk assessments and identifying risks unique to a shipyard environment and a complex FOCI-mitigated structure.
  • Excellent communication skills are critical in order to convey security requirements to all levels of staff and to interface with DCSA.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain protocols to prevent unauthorized access to classified or sensitive information.
  • Educate employees on best practices for cybersecurity, physical security, and classified document handling.
  • Ensure the organization complies with the requirements set forth by the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and 32 CFR Part 117.
  • Act as the point of contact for DCSA, federal contracting officers, and other security-related entities.
  • Support and coordinate with the Facility Security Officers across the business.
  • Identify potential risks and implement corrective actions to maintain the integrity of government contracts.
  • Ensure Corporate supplemental FOCI plans are implemented and enforced across the function.
  • Ensure that employees who require security clearances are properly vetted and that their credentials remain up to date.
  • Conduct Corporate Security Training with employees and parent organization.
  • Implement corporate security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and assets.
  • Lead and manage the security team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Prepare and present security reports to senior management, outlining risks, incidents, and recommendations for improvement.
