About The Position

Responsible for the direct sales and marketing for 2 Marriott branded hotels (Courtyard and Fairfield by Marriott). Maintains key accounts while finding new accounts for the hotels. The individual will generate profitable business/sales in the assigned market segments through cold calls, networking, and boots on the ground sales efforts. This role requires a deep understanding of the competition, including details like room count, meeting space, décor, rates, and sales managers at competing hotels. The position involves managing tentative contracts, following up to convert them to definite business, and interacting professionally with other departments. It also includes re-booking existing groups, gathering feedback, and complying with all company policies. Problem-solving for internal and customer issues is crucial, as is maintaining client confidence and goodwill. The role may involve serving on hotel committees and reviewing unusual rate or arrival patterns with management. A neat and professional appearance is required, along with flexibility in work schedule to meet hotel and guest needs, recognizing that occupancy and in-house groups will affect the schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Direct sales and marketing for Courtyard and Fairfield by Marriott hotels.
  • Maintain key accounts and find new accounts for the hotels.
  • Generate profitable business/sales in assigned market segments through cold calls, networking, and boots on the ground sales efforts.
  • Know account and pending account details (volume, trends, rates at other hotels, etc.).
  • Prospect and acquire new business while maintaining existing accounts.
  • Maintain orderly sales files and trace system.
  • Complete action steps outlined in the marketing plan.
  • Solicit business through both outside and inside sales.
  • Attend selected trade shows and participate in social/civic activities as assigned.
  • Meet monthly sales goals in room nights, revenue, and sales calls.
  • Conduct site inspections with potential clients weekly.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly productivity reports for weekly sales meetings.
  • Assist in preparing the yearly budget, business and marketing plan, and special projects.
  • Perform assigned administrative duties and projects in a professional manner.
  • Understand competition in detail (number of rooms, meeting space, décor, rates, etc.).
  • Follow up on tentative contracts to convert them to definite business.
  • Interact in a professional and courteous manner with other departments.
  • Make efforts to re-book groups and solicit feedback.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Deal with internal/departmental and customer problems quickly, efficiently, and courteously.

  • Serve on hotel committees representing the sales department as requested.
  • Review difficult/out-of-the-ordinary rate, arrival patterns, and room night questions with management.
