About The Position

7Gen is a growth-stage company making it easy for fleets to go electric. Our EV-as-a-Service model handles everything: vehicle procurement, charging infrastructure, financing, subsidies, and software. We focus on medium- and heavy-duty commercial fleets across Canada, including courier/last-mile delivery, regional trucking, drayage, and bus fleets. The company's name is inspired by the Seven Generations Principle, emphasizing that decisions today should benefit future generations. We are at a pivotal moment where the electrification of medium and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDV) is shifting from a pilot discussion to a fleet-wide procurement decision. We are seeking a sales leader capable of driving these decisions. The Director of Sales will be responsible for the revenue side of the business. Initially, this involves leading a team of 2.5 Account Executives and 1 SDR, managing pipeline and quota, and personally handling the largest enterprise opportunities. Over the next 12-24 months, the role will focus on building 7Gen's commercial engine by hiring, segmenting territories, refining the sales process, and expanding go-to-market strategies across Canada and potentially the USA. The role involves selling to commercial fleets that are already committed to electrification, with the primary task being to build trust and provide solutions regarding the 'how,' 'with whom,' and 'on what economics.'

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience selling into Canadian commercial fleet customers, with a strong focus on heavier assets (Class 5–8, vocational, transit/coach).
  • Proven track record of carrying and exceeding quota personally.
  • Direct experience managing a sales team of 3-5+ individuals, with examples of coaching AEs to become bigger producers.
  • Comfort with complex, consultative, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles (6-18 months).
  • Experience navigating deals involving CFO, Fleet, Operations, and Sustainability stakeholders.
  • Understanding of leasing/financing economics.
  • Personal scrappiness to operate effectively in an environment without extensive sales operations support (e.g., no dedicated sales ops director or deal desk yet).
  • Ability to name fleet managers at Canadian for-hire carriers or last-mile fleets from memory and have them pick up your call.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in EV, sustainability, or clean-tech.
  • Experience at a venture-backed scale-up company with significant revenue growth.
  • French language ability.
  • Experience selling a package including services, software, and asset finance.
  • Knowledge of finance/lease products, including TCO conversations, residual value, and term structures.
  • Prior experience in marketing or full go-to-market ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team of 2.5 Account Executives and 1 SDR.
  • Own pipeline and quota.
  • Personally work the largest enterprise opportunities.
  • Build 7Gen's commercial engine: hiring, segmenting territories, tightening sales motion, and broader GTM across Canada and potentially the USA.
  • Manage a personal book of the largest, most strategic enterprise opportunities.
  • Ensure quota, forecast, and pipeline accuracy across the AE/SDR team.
  • Develop and refine the sales process, comp plans, CRM hygiene, and the playbook for scaling the sales team.
  • Hire and develop the next generation of AEs, including identifying potential within the existing team.
  • Oversee customer segmentation across four core verticals: urban last-mile, regional trucking, commercial transit, and school bus.
  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing Director on demand generation, ABM, and event strategy.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, providing feedback to product, operations, and finance teams.
