About The Position

The Director of Sales & Marketing Coast Kamloops Hotel & Conference Centre will lead the hotel’s overall sales strategy and performance across Corporate, Group, Leisure, and Extended Stay focused on guest room revenue. This role drives revenue growth through strategic account development, RFP leadership, proactive market engagement, and team leadership, while partnering closely with the General Manager and Revenue Management to optimize results. This role reports to the Regional Director, Sales, Revenue, & Marketing.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in related area preferred
  • 6 years of experience in a sales role, with a minimum of 4 years of sales experience in the hotel industry
  • Ability to travel
  • Advanced level in the use of MS Office Suite
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Proven ability to sell and meet set sales/performance targets in a senior sales role
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support the building of strong relationships with diverse groups of people

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue, market share, and profitability goals across all segments (Corporate, Group, Leisure, and Extended Stay).
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive sales calls, networking, and relationship-building within the local and regional market.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Oversee and direct sales activities including prospecting, contracting, and client account management to ensure strong execution and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and Revenue Management to optimize pricing, inventory, and promotional strategies.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, and community partnerships to enhance visibility and drive demand.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, travel partners, and meeting planners; growing key national BT accounts and high-value local accounts for BT & Group business.
  • Identify and activate key brand-driven opportunities and initiatives that support hotel positioning and performance.
  • Lead the annual RFP process for corporate and consortia accounts, including preparation, strategy, submissions, follow-up, negotiation, conversion, and post-RFP analysis to ensure competitive positioning and growth.
  • Lead strategy and performance management including planning, budgeting, pacing, and comp set/STR awareness; achieve or exceed STR fair share goals.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports and performance updates to ownership and management.
  • Ensure alignment with Coast brand standards and uphold exceptional guest and client service in all interactions.
