About The Position

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a full-time Director of Public Health, Patient Programs, and Scientific Outreach. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Civil Service and Human Capital Modernization Act, located in Oklahoma City, OK. OMMA offers a comprehensive benefits packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is based on education and experience. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and seven years of professional business or public administration experience, including four years in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional or technical administrative experience in business or public administration for each year of the required education.
  • No substitution will be allowed for the required professional experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in public health or other higher education degrees focused on public health.
  • Experience working in regulatory programs, implementing rules pertaining to state laws and mandates, and experience with administrative principles and practices, including data analysis, ad hoc research, program management and business administration.
  • Proven skills in performance evaluation, reporting, public speaking, decision making, attention to detail, teamwork, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Directs oversight of public health and patient licensing efforts, providing forward-thinking leadership to a team of patient license processors, epidemiologists, outreach specialists, and public health specialists.
  • Oversees the collection of public health data to inform policy decisions related to medical marijuana in Oklahoma.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Science Officer to ensure public health is promoted through all aspects of OMMA’s work.
  • Maintains subject matter expertise in national and global public health trends related to cannabis, incorporating best practices into OMMA’s policies and programming as applicable.
  • Actively engages with patients, medical professionals, and public health professionals to gather input on relevant public health issues related to the use of medicinal cannabis.
  • Analyzes health outcomes and develops measures to assess the effectiveness of implemented public health programs.
  • Facilitate collaboration between OMMA internal teams and external stakeholders to advance patient-centered public health and safety campaigns.
  • Leads initiatives focused on educating and engaging healthcare providers regarding medical cannabis health and safety topics.
  • Establishes and maintains OMMA as a trusted resource for patients and medical providers on matters related to medical marijuana health and safety.
  • Oversees the licensing process for OMMA Education and Research licensing.
  • Cultivates relationships with higher education and research institutions who may be interested in doing research on medical cannabis.
  • Works with cannabis regulators from other states and countries to stay abreast of all research on medical cannabis.
  • Creates public policy proposals based on epidemiological data to present to OMMA’s Government Affairs team.
  • Engages in public speaking events on behalf of OMMA as a public health subject matter expert.
  • Oversees the budget for their department and meets regularly with the OMMA finance team to ensure compliance with all budgeting and state purchasing laws.
  • Works with the OMMA legal team to guide all new initiatives ensuring compliance with all state laws.
  • May testify as a subject matter expert on public health matters in OMMA’s administrative proceedings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
