About The Position

This position is for a Director of Pharmacy overseeing Oncology and Investigation Drug Services. The role requires specific licensure and a combination of education and experience in health-system pharmacy administration. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer with more than 3,400 licensed beds, 4,600 providers, 35,000 employees, and $7 billion in total operating revenues. The Health System is comprised of 25 hospitals – including J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, an 880-bed academic medical center, and the 150-bed WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia – and five institutes.

Requirements

• Must possess a current license as required by the state board where services will be provided or be license eligible. Licensure must be completed within 100 days of hire: WV: Pharmacist license through the West Virginia State Board of Pharmacy PA: Pharmacist license through the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy MD: Pharmacist license through the Maryland Board of Pharmacy OH: Pharmacist license through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
• While waiting on licensure, employee may not practice pharmacy under West Virginia law and may not be allowed within the licensed pharmacy area without direct and guided supervision of a licensed pharmacist
• Employee may not function as a Pharmacist-in-Charge or perform any function of a practicing pharmacist.
• Incumbents will refrain from engaging in any responsibilities that necessitate a pharmacist's license until they have obtained full licensure.
• Completion of a health-system pharmacy administration residency program AND 4 years of administrative experience OR;
• Completion of a non-health-system pharmacy administration residency program AND 5 years of administrative experience OR;
• Seven years inpatient and/or health-system pharmacy administrative experience.

Nice To Haves

• Master of Business Administration, Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Health-System Pharmacy Administration, or Master in Public Health.
• Board Certification in a clinical pharmacy specialty.
• Foundation knowledge in retail pharmacy and specific knowledge of 340B.

Responsibilities

• Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
