About The Position

The Director of Patient Business Services provides strategic and operational leadership for hospital billing, accounts receivable, collections, patient financial services, and vendor management. The role drives revenue cycle performance, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability while supporting a compassionate, transparent, and positive patient financial experience. The Director oversees key performance indicators, leads continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates across departments to optimize operational efficiency, cash flow, and organizational success in support of the St. Peter’s Health mission.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of progressive hospital revenue cycle or patient financial services experience, preferred.
• At least three years of people leadership experience, preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of billing, regulatory, and compliance requirements for all payers.
• Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
• Knowledge of billing computer programs, Lotus, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Knowledge of spreadsheets for data analysis and basic correspondence.
• Thorough knowledge of SPH payment policies, verification, authorization, billing, and posting processes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, difficult situations, and customer interactions effectively.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction, perform detailed assignments, and manage and disseminate information accurately.
• Proficiency with EHR billing workflows, Excel, reporting, and business intelligence tools.
• Ability to investigate complex claims and reimbursement issues.
• Interpersonal and communication skills for effective, non-judgmental, empathetic patient care and customer relations.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience with Epic revenue cycle applications.
