About The Position

The Director of Operations oversees roles and functions supporting manufacturing and distribution operations, including: Purchasing; Supply Chain and Logistics; Quality; Facilities and Equipment; Capacity Planning; Master Production Scheduling; and Branch Operations. This role emphasizes establishing best practices, driving operational efficiency, and integrating activities across all branch locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an operations-related leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior or C-Suite level position.
  • Role will be full-time, nominally on-site in Anaheim, CA
  • Willing and able to travel extensively (up to 50%) including multi-day trips. All travel is domestic.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and background checks shall be required.
  • All applicants shall be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs. Develop actionable business strategies and plans aligned with the organization’s short- and long-term objectives.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable plans for performance and growth, including establishing organization-wide goals, performance metrics, and annual operational planning.
  • Oversee branch operations and employee productivity while fostering an engaged workforce and a high-performing culture.
  • Analyze internal operations and identify opportunities for improvement using Lean, 5S, and Kaizen principles.
  • Partner with the VP of Operations to develop, implement, and manage capital investments and expenditures to support growth, profitability, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Work with the Director of Purchasing to oversee supply chain functions, including demand forecasting, master production scheduling, materials forecasting, strategic and tactical purchasing, inventory control, and logistics. Utilize ERP/MRP systems to forecast and track material usage.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers of raw materials.
  • Place raw material orders, track lead times and deliveries, and coordinate distribution to branch locations.
  • Develop and manage national accounts for shop supplies, equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Establish vendor selection methodologies and evaluate vendor performance within the Quality system.
  • Manage and coordinate inter-branch material transfers within the ERP system and oversee delivery to transfer locations.
  • Develop and implement standardized policies for cycle counting inventory at each location.
  • Oversee annual physical inventory and coordinate with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer for reporting.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records across all branch locations and establish consistent reporting practices.
  • Resolve shipment issues in collaboration with branch-level teams.
  • Work with other Directors to implement Total Quality Management (TQM), 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to ensure the highest level of product quality.
  • Work with the branch to optimize workflow, ensure proper maintenance of plant and equipment, and maximize operational uptime through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Oversee manufacturing and industrial engineering efforts to ensure efficient plant layout and workflow.
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, vendors, and service partners.
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards to evaluate operational efficiency and effectiveness; identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement policies and procedures that improve day-to-day operations and standardize processes across locations.
  • Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast budgets and cost of sales across divisions to achieve financial objectives.
  • Partner with the Director of HR on workforce planning, organizational structure, and talent development to support operational goals.
