About The Position

California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is seeking a Director of Online Enrollment to provide executive leadership for the design, launch, and scaling of LA Online, the university's new online learning and enrollment enterprise. This role will lead the development of an internal Online Program Management (OPM) model, focusing on aligning academic innovation, enrollment growth, and student success for online degree, certificate, and extension credit programs. The Director will oversee the entire online enrollment lifecycle, from market intelligence and portfolio strategy to digital marketing, recruitment, admissions coordination, onboarding, retention, and re-enrollment. This position requires close collaboration with academic colleges, central enrollment units, academic technology, IT, institutional effectiveness, and student services to ensure a unified, data-driven, and learner-centered online experience. The Director will manage multiple functional teams, oversee internal and external vendors, establish performance metrics and dashboards, and develop sustainable financial and operational models for long-term growth and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in online enrollment management, higher education marketing, recruitment, admissions, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end online enrollment operations, including marketing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Experience working across academic and administrative units in a complex higher education environment.
  • Must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily.
  • Must reside in the State of California.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Senior-level experience with online or adult-learner programs.
  • Experience building or operating an internal OPM or hybrid OPM model.
  • Advanced experience with digital marketing, CRM platforms, enrollment analytics, and marketing automation.
  • Experience managing vendors while building internal institutional capacity.
  • Demonstrated success using data to drive enrollment growth, improve retention, and enhance the student experience.
