About The Position

The Director of Nursing (LPN) plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. The role is responsible for ensuring that residents consistently receive the highest quality of care. The Director of Nursing defines and maintains nursing practice standards and oversees staff, treatments, medications, and services in accordance with resident care plans and physician orders.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of previous long-term care experience, or an equivalent combination of education (a bachelor's degree) and experience.
• Must be licensed in the applicable state as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Experience with applicable state survey rules and regulations, Medicare, and Medicaid.

• Prior experience managing staff and working in a long-term care and/or assisted living setting.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain nursing practice standards within the facility.
• Understand and review the facility’s Healthcare Clinical Policies and Procedures.
• Oversee, direct, and coordinate nursing staff to provide proper resident care consistent with standard nursing practices.
• Oversee the provision of medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to resident care plans and physician-directed orders.
• Maintain accurate and detailed reports and records.
• Assess residents’ conditions and vital signs to determine or modify treatment plans.
• Periodically update written policies and procedures governing the Nursing Department.
• Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing Quality Assurance Program for the Nursing Department.
• Report issues or problems to the Administrator.
• Comply with state, federal, and other applicable healthcare and safety standards.
• Assist families and other visitors as needed.
• Attend and complete required in-services and meetings.
• Complete assigned online training to maintain company, state, and federal compliance.
