About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) plans, organizes, develops, and directs the Nursing Department’s overall operation in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. The role is responsible for ensuring that residents consistently receive the highest quality of care. The DON also promotes and exemplifies Priority Life Care’s mission and values.

Requirements

At least 5 years of previous long-term care experience, or an equivalent combination of education (a bachelor’s degree) and experience.
Must hold a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the applicable state.
Experience with applicable state survey rules and regulations, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience managing staff and working in a long-term care and/or assisted living setting.

Responsibilities

Defines and maintains nursing practice standards within the facility.
Understands and reviews the facility’s Healthcare Clinical Policies and Procedures.
Oversees, directs, and coordinates nursing staff to provide appropriate resident care consistent with standard nursing practices.
Oversees medications, treatments, and general nursing services in accordance with resident care plans and physician-directed orders.
Maintains accurate and detailed reports and records.
Assesses residents’ conditions and vital signs to determine or modify treatment plans.
Periodically updates written policies and procedures governing the Nursing Department.
Develops, implements, and maintains an ongoing Nursing Department Quality Assurance Program.
Reports issues or problems to the Administrator.
Complies with state, federal, and other applicable healthcare and safety standards.
Assists families and other visitors as needed.
Attends and completes required in-services and meetings.
Completes assigned online training to maintain company, state, and federal compliance.
