About The Position

The Director of Nursing will lead clinical operations and supervise resident care and activities of daily living. This role involves ensuring high standards of ethics and personal accountability, managing staff scheduling, and potentially working as a floor nurse when needed. The position also requires completing ongoing training, promoting positive relationships, and being on-call 24/7 as needed or on a rotation basis. Adherence to all OSHA, Fire, Health Department, and safety requirements is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program in compliance with State regulations.
  • Knowledge of state assisted living or personal care home regulations as applicable.
  • Experience with aging-related diseases and disorders.
  • Experience working with senior citizens.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to provide leadership and train and develop staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to display compassion toward residents as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competent in organization and time management.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to work well under stress, complete assignments accurately, and work independently.
  • Effectively communicate in English with residents and other employees.
  • Demonstrate desire to be a team player.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with residents and staff in a professional and friendly manner at all times and possesses compassion for residents.
  • Interacts with care staff, co-workers and supervisors in a professional, respectful and caring manner at all times.
  • Follows nursing service policies and procedures.
  • Administers resident rights program as outlined by Federal and State regulations.
  • Evaluates and assesses resident care and develops a care plan for each resident.
  • Administers and documents all medication management for residents.
  • Notifies resident’s physician and family of change in resident’s condition.
  • Documents family and resident concerns with healthcare management.
  • Hires and trains staff members.
  • Directs, supervises and evaluates staff performance, including recommendations for disciplinary actions.
  • Reports any instances of abuse through appropriate established avenues as outlined by state regulations and/or community policy and procedure.
  • Ensures nurses station is neat, clean and organized.
  • Demonstrates high standards of ethics and personal accountability.
  • Ensures staff scheduling is appropriate to census and acuity of residents and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Works as a floor nurse as needed to fill a shift position.
  • Completes on-going training as required by state regulations.
  • Promotes and maintains positive relationships with co-workers, residents, family members, guests, and service providers.
  • On-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week as needed or is on-call on a rotation basis established by the community.
  • Follows all OSHA, Fire, Health Department and safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
