About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Multifamily to lead and grow a well-established multifamily construction operation in Central Texas. This is a leadership role overseeing multifamily projects from preconstruction and estimating through materials, field operations, project completion and customer relationships. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in multifamily wood-frame construction and understands the operational and financial side of running multiple projects simultaneously. The company provides a broad multifamily solution that includes framing and exterior package, allowing customers to coordinate multiple scopes through one experienced partner. This is an opportunity for a construction leader who can take ownership of the multifamily operation, develop people, strengthen customer relationships and drive successful project execution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of construction experience with significant multifamily experience
  • Strong background in wood-frame multifamily construction
  • Experience with garden-style, wrap, podium, BTR, student housing, senior living or similar projects
  • Previous leadership experience managing multiple projects and/or construction teams
  • Strong understanding of framing, trusses, lumber and exterior products such as siding and cornice
  • Experience working directly with GCs, developers and owners
  • Understanding of construction estimating, budgets, scheduling, change orders and project profitability
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership of results
  • Able to balance field execution, customer relationships and financial performance

  • Candidates may come from: Multifamily framing contractors, Turnkey framing companies, Truss/component manufacturers, Building-material suppliers serving multifamily, Multifamily general contractors, Multifamily construction management companies
  • A strong candidate does not necessarily need to have held a "Director of Multifamily" title. Senior Project Managers, Project Executives, Operations Managers, Construction Managers and General Managers with the right multifamily framing background are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the multifamily division
  • Oversee multiple multifamily projects throughout Central Texas
  • Manage and develop project managers, superintendents, estimators and other team members
  • Maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, owners and other customers
  • Oversee estimating, project budgets, schedules, procurement and project execution
  • Monitor project performance, labor productivity, material costs and margins
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, change orders and project requirements
  • Coordinate framing, trusses, lumber, siding, cornice and related scopes
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure materials and field operations remain aligned with project schedules
  • Identify and address project risks before they impact schedule or profitability
  • Help establish and maintain operational processes and accountability
  • Participate in business development and help expand relationships with multifamily customers
  • Provide leadership, direction and accountability across the multifamily organization
