Director of MRO Transformation

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Anduril’s Mission Readiness organization provides post-production shared services that support products throughout their lifecycle, including sustainment planning, delivery, installation, operation, repair, and return. As the installed base grows across products and Business Lines, this role will lead the transition from program-specific repair processes and tools to a hardened, scalable MRO operating model. The Director of MRO Transformation owns the modernization agenda for repair operations. This includes establishing common processes, selecting and implementing the systems MRO uses, and leading change management so programs adopt scalable practices without slowing repair turnaround for products already in the field. The role assesses current activity and develops a transformation roadmap, working across functions and locations to sequence and sustain change. The position is based onsite in Costa Mesa, California, or Columbus, Ohio; remote work is not considered. Travel of 25–50% is required. The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in MRO, sustainment, operations, program management, or business/digital transformation roles, including experience standing up or modernizing MRO tools and processes.
  • 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional change management or transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to travel 25–50% of the time.
  • Must work onsite in Costa Mesa, CA, or Columbus, OH; remote work is not considered.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience evaluating and implementing MRO or product lifecycle tooling and leading organizations through adoption.
  • Track record of consolidating fragmented, program-specific processes into a scalable operating model in a fast-growing or matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), and product support analysis concepts, sufficient to translate engineering requirements into tooling and process decisions.
  • Experience building business cases for transformation investments and defending them to cross-functional and executive stakeholders.
  • Prior success leading change in a complex or matrixed organization supporting multiple product families, including influencing teams without direct authority.
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or another highly regulated hardware environment where DoD or military sustainment standards shape transformation sequencing.
  • Experience with digital transformation of sustainment or logistics data, including spares, configuration, and maintenance history, to support fleet-wide visibility.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree.

Responsibilities

  • Assess current-state activity, tools, data, and processes across Business Lines, including field sustainment systems, spares tactics, ERP, accounting methods, and maintenance task tracking, and develop a plan for a scalable common operating model.
  • Project-manage the selection or design, implementation, and adoption of MRO digital backbone systems, including integration with the sustainment operating system.
  • Partner with IT, Operational Excellence, and Business Operations to align processes and digital workflows.
  • Design and lead change management to bring Business Lines, Production, Supply Chain, and Technical Operations onto common, reusable MRO methods.
  • Partner with the Head of MRO, Director of Repair Engineering, and Business Line Production leadership to determine product-specific approaches based on lifecycle stage, expectations, customers, technology, and volumes.
  • Own the transformation roadmap and business case, including scoring and prioritizing tooling and process investments against cost, schedule, and repair turnaround-time goals.
  • Establish metrics and reporting for MRO performance, including repair turnaround time, backlog, cost, and tool adoption, and track transformation progress.
  • Build and lead a team focused on MRO process definition and improvement, tooling, and change management, separate from the teams running day-to-day repairs.
  • Partner with Operational Excellence to implement and manage performance.
  • Manage change across multiple teams and locations while ensuring disparate customer needs are understood and considered.
  • Represent MRO transformation priorities in cross-functional planning with Program Management, Supply Chain, Production, and Engineering.

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
