About The Position

The Director of Medical Staff Services oversees daily operations of the Medical Staff Services Department and maintains effective, efficient systems that support the organized medical staff as mandated by the Hospital's Board of Trustees. The role includes staff development and evaluation, as well as ongoing monitoring of departmental systems. The Director establishes and implements standards for medical staff members relating to credentialing, quality improvement, and administrative functions; ensures compliance with regulatory standards; and provides consultative expertise to medical staff and hospital leadership on options and permissible actions for meeting those standards. The Director also arbitrates confidential, sensitive, and controversial issues between physicians and the hospital and supervises professional support staff in administering medical staff services functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• At least three years of management experience in a Medical Staff Services or Credentialing setting.
• Thorough understanding of the goals, objectives, and purpose of Medical Staff Services.
• Excellent computer experience.
• Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) required.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation and other regulatory standards required.
