The Director of Marketing is a leadership role responsible for shaping, executing, and scaling a national marketing strategy for a growing, employee‑owned general contractor. This role oversees brand positioning, digital marketing, and communications across all regions and markets. This position serves as a key partner to executive leadership, operations, business development, talent acquisition, and other national departments. The Director of Marketing ensures the Brinkmann’s value proposition is clearly articulated, differentiated, and consistently represented to support both revenue growth and the long‑term success of our employee‑owned culture. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including senior leadership roles
  • Must have strong communication skills, presentation ability, analytical skills, ability to solve complex challenges, organization skills, and ability to collaborate across departments, functions, and regions
  • Proven experience in construction, engineering, or professional services; general contracting experience is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated success supporting business development, pursuit strategies, and revenue growth at a regional or national level
  • Experience with social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite tools, Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or marketing for employee‑owned (ESOP) organizations is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a national marketing strategy aligned with corporate growth plans, market expansion, and revenue targets
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on market positioning, brand strategy, and pursuit planning
  • Lead annual marketing planning, budgeting, and performance measurements across all regions
  • Own and evolve the company’s brand identity, messaging, and voice at a national level
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality branding across proposals, presentations, digital platforms, job sites, advertising, and communications
  • Position the firm as a preferred general contractor known for quality, safety, collaboration, and employee ownership
  • Lead digital strategy including website management and social media
  • Oversee content creation including project case studies, thought leadership, client testimonials, and employee owner stories
  • Analyze marketing data and KPIs to evaluate effectiveness, ROI, and opportunity areas
  • Manage media relations, press releases, awards submissions, and industry recognition efforts
  • Build relationships with national and regional construction associations, trade publications, and community partners
  • Support employer branding initiatives that attract top talent and promote the employee-owned culture
  • Collaborate with company leadership to define communication topics and strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives
  • Generate creative and engaging themes in communication and develop compelling brand messaging
  • Update internal communications, including company-wide communications, intranet, team presentations, and company meetings
  • Collaborate with other departments on marketing and communication business needs both internally and externally
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing, geographically distributed marketing team
  • Manage and coordinate external agencies, consultants, and vendors
  • Establish scalable systems, processes, and tools to support continued national growth
